Rainbow Bread is fun way to make colorful bread. Let your kids kneed this bread and kneed up some of their favorite colors.

Rainbow Bread

Serving Size: 2 loaves

Notes:
This is an easy way to be creative with your bread. An addition of food coloring can make for some exciting bread. Let the younger folks to help you shape the bread.

Ingredients:
6 C. flour
2 C. Water
1 Tbsp. Sugar
1 Tbsp. Salt
1 pkg. yeast or one scant tablespoon
Food coloring of your choice

Preparation:
In a small bowl combine 2 cups of warm water between 95F and 115F (test by dropping a few drops on your wrist), yeast, sugar. Let the yeast mixture six for about 6 minutes.
Mix together 1 cup and the yeast mixter. Add salt and stir well. Add approximately 4 1/2 cups of flour. You may need to add some additional flour if the dough is still sticky.
Turn dough onto a kneading surface that has been sprinkled with the remaining 1/2 cup of flour. Knead dough until it is smooth and elastic and no longer sticky. You may need to add a bit more flour.
Grease a large bowl and place dough in the bowl and cover with a clean towel. Sit dough in a warm place and allow it to rise until it has doubled in size. This could take 1 to 2 hours. Punch the dough down, divide dough into two equal parts. You may wish to put on plastic gloves. Add a few drops of food coloring of your choice, and knead the colors into the dough. Shape dough into a loaf, and place in a greased baking pan. Bake at 450 degrees for approximately 35 minutes.
